Our department offers three majors: Classical Biology, Molecular Biology, and Biology Teaching. Each major is will prepare the student for a career in biology or a related filed. The majority of our student continue their education at a graduate level in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or a biology graduate program .

Why Study Molecular Biology at Lipscomb?
We offer 25 specific Biology courses, several special topics courses, summer field courses, independent research opportunities, and internships in areas of interest.

Laboratory Equipment and space includes: Olympus binocular microscopes (1 per student in a lab), Greenhouse, DNA & Protein electrophoresis instrumentation, a Li-COR DNA sequencer, PCR instrumentation, human cadavers for Anatomy and Physiology courses, various types of growth chambers & incubators, muffle furnace, and various type of spectrophotometric instruments.

Careers in Molecular Biology
Students may pursue advanced degrees in biology and related fields, serve as research assistants in clinical and research laboratories, teach at various levels, work in the pharmaceutical industry as sales representatives and researchers, pursue careers in biomedical law, and work as biologist for local, state, and federal agencies.
