Freshmen

Figuring out where you want to go to college can be tricky enough. Once you decide to apply to Lipscomb (naturally!), we try to make the process as painless as possible. We have a rolling admission policy, which means that you can apply anytime, and the sooner you apply, the sooner you find out if you are accepted. Just follow these steps.

Step 1: Complete an application

To get the process started, complete our online application and pay the $50 application fee.  You may also apply to Lipscomb using the Common Application, or by downloading a printed application and sending it with your essay and $50 application fee to:

Step 2: Send us your test scores

When registering for the ACT or SAT, you’ll need to request that your scores be sent to Lipscomb. If you’ve already taken the test, you can request additional scores by visiting the ACT website or the SAT website. We accept your highest composite score (and no, we can’t combine scores from separate tests). If you are not satisfied with your scores, you should consider signing up for our Residual ACT, which we offer multiple times most weeks right here on campus beginning in January.

Lipscomb’s test codes:

  • ACT: 3956
  • SAT: 1161

Step 3: Ask for an academic reference

We require an academic reference from a teacher, professor, principal, guidance counselor, or other school administrator.

If you are applying with the Common Application you should also submit your academic reference through the Common Application.

If you are applying with our online application or printed application, you can download the printable academic reference form here, or you can ask your recruiter to send a link to your reference that will allow them to recommend you online.

Home-school students: Instead of an academic evaluation, you can submit a personal recommendation from anyone not related to you.

Step 4: Send us your official high school transcript

First-time freshmen: Request that your high school guidance counselor send your transcript to the Office of Admissions.

Home-school students: Submit a home school record or transcript.

Transfer students: Submit an official transcript from each college you’ve previously attended. If you have fewer than 60 credit hours, we’ll also ask you to have your official high school transcript sent directly to Lipscomb by the issuing school. Learn more here.

Step 5: Set up an interview

So that we can get to know you a little better and so that you have a chance to ask us any lingering questions, we require an admissions interview. Interviews usually take about a half hour and can be done either in person or by telephone. Just call us at 1-877-LU-BISON to set one up.

Step 6: Sit tight for a few weeks

We know waiting to find out if you got accepted can be agonizing. So once we receive all of the items listed above, we will notify you of our decision in about three weeks (keep in mind that we don’t begin admitting students until October). If you’ve been admitted, we’ll send you an acceptance packet with housing reservation forms, health forms, and educational records consent forms (according to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act).

Step 7: Celebrate (and take care of some details)

Wahooo! You’re a bison now! Here are some important next steps:
